Tems is coming to Johannesburg and this time it’s not for a performance. She’s bringing her groundbreaking Leading Vibe Initiative to South Africa, marking a powerful new chapter for women in African music.

The Leading Vibe Initiative is a platform dedicated to empowering emerging women across the music industry. Designed for artists, songwriters and producers, the programme focuses on mentorship, skill development, industry access and long-term creative sustainability.

After impactful activations in West and East Africa, Johannesburg will now host the initiative’s first Southern African edition. The South Africa leg is set to take place on 21 March 2026, positioning the city at the centre of a continent-wide movement aimed at reshaping the future of music through female leadership and representation.

Applications are open and they close on 28 February 2026, giving aspiring participants a limited window to be part of this landmark programme.

What the Initiative Offers:

The Leading Vibe Initiative goes beyond a traditional workshop. Selected participants gain access to:

  • Hands-on songwriting and production sessions
  • Mentorship from established industry professionals
  • Career development guidance
  • Networking opportunities with key players in music and entertainment
  • A collaborative creative environment designed to build confidence and community

The initiative addresses a long-standing gap in the industry, the underrepresentation of women behind the boards, on stage and in executive spaces by creating intentional opportunities for growth and visibility.

Why This Matters for South Africa:

South Africa has one of the most dynamic music scenes in the world, from Amapiano to Afro-pop and alternative R&B. Yet, like many global markets, women remain underrepresented in production and executive roles.

The arrival of the Leading Vibe Initiative signals more than just an event, it represents infrastructure building. It’s about access. It’s about ownership. And it’s about ensuring the next generation of African women in music have the tools, networks and confidence to thrive on their own terms.

As Johannesburg prepares to host this landmark activation, the spotlight shifts to a new wave of talent ready to shape the continent’s sound.
