Now in its 27th year, the festival continues to cement its place as Africa’s premier jazz event, bringing together a mix of global heavyweights and the best of South Africa’s jazz talent. Over the years, Joy of Jazz has grown into a cultural cornerstone, hosting thousands of attendees annually and showcasing world-class musicians across multiple stages.
This year’s lineup is stacked with standout names. 5x Grammy Award winner named “Africa’s premiere diva” Angelique Kidjo. Internationally, Kamasi Washington returns as a major drawcard, alongside celebrated French-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf. UK saxophonist Nubya Garcia also features, continuing the festival’s strong connection to the global jazz scene.
On the local front, the programme is just as strong. Expect performances from Khaya Mahlangu, Thandiswa Mazwai, Tank and The Bangas, Tumi Mogorosi, and Ndabo Zulu, alongside special tributes like the Kippie Moeketsi Centennial Jazz Tribute — a nod to South Africa’s rich jazz heritage.
The festival continues its tradition of blending legacy acts with contemporary voices, offering everything from big band interpretations of South African classics to experimental jazz, soul, and genre-blending performances.
Taking place over two nights this year, the 2026 edition keeps things tight while still delivering a diverse, multi-stage experience that caters to both jazz purists and new listeners.
Tickets are already live on Ticketmaster, with single-day and weekend passes available.
