Could Olivia Dean be the international headliner Milk + Cookies has been teasing for its 2027 South African edition? The clues are certainly getting interesting.

Milk + Cookies is returning to Cape Town on 29 January and Johannesburg on 31 January 2027, but its international headliner has yet to be officially revealed. However, fans have been connecting the dots, and Olivia Dean's name keeps coming up.

If you’ve been watching the festival’s announcement rollout, one detail stands out: the pink.

Milk + Cookies has been using a distinctive pink throughout its 2027 campaign, a colour that looks remarkably similar to the pink background on Olivia Dean’s Instagram profile. Dean was able to customise her profile after winning one of Instagram’s inaugural Rings Awards in 2025. Coincidence? Perhaps. But it has certainly fuelled speculation among fans.

And the timing would make sense.

Dean is having a major moment in her career. Her breakout hit “Man I Need” has reached audiences around the world, while her album The Art of Loving has established her as one of the most exciting voices in contemporary soul and pop. She also won Best New Artist at the 2026 Grammy Awards, taking her career to another level.

A South African appearance would give local fans the chance to experience songs like “Man I Need,” “Dive,” “Messy” and “The Hardest Part” live.

She would also be an interesting fit for Milk + Cookies, which has brought a range of international sounds to South Africa. The festival’s inaugural local edition featured Kaytranada, followed by Gunna and Majid Jordan in 2026. Olivia Dean would bring a different energy, leaning into the soul and pop influences that have helped define her sound.

Imagine thousands of Joburg fans singing “Man I Need” back to her at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens. We can already picture it.

Of course, Milk + Cookies has not officially confirmed Olivia Dean as its 2027 headliner. For now, the pink campaign and online speculation have fans waiting to see whether their suspicions are right.

But if the clues mean what people think they mean, South Africa could be seeing Olivia Dean in January.
