Where It Started

Friends Who Social began in Cape Town in 2025, launching with a debut event that quickly sold out. The concept was simple, bring the right people into the right space, add great music and thoughtfully prepared food, and let the connections happen naturally.

The idea worked.

The first gathering showed that people aren’t just looking for places to go, they’re looking for spaces where they feel comfortable enough to stay. Spaces where conversations flow easily and meeting new people feels natural.

A New Chapter in Gauteng

After launching in Cape Town, Friends Who Social relocated to Pretoria in mid-2025 with a bigger vision in mind.

While Johannesburg and Cape Town often dominate conversations around culture and social life, Friends Who Social is focused on building something meaningful in Pretoria. The goal is to create a consistent space where people can gather regularly and where community can grow over time.

Pretoria is now home base, but the vision goes beyond one city. Friends Who Social plans to continue building its community across Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Cape Town, bringing the same intentional experience wherever it goes.

The First Pretoria Event

The first Gauteng edition of Friends Who Social was scheduled to take place on Saturday, 7 March at Moka Social Club in Waterkloof, Pretoria, running from 14:00 until early evening but has since been POSTPONED.

Tickets are R350 per person and include a cheeseboard, with limited availability.

The venue is a natural fit for the experience (warm, intimate, and designed for lingering conversations). Expect a laid-back afternoon with carefully selected music, good food, and a relaxed social atmosphere.

This isn’t a party and it’s not a networking event either, it sits somewhere in between. A space where you can show up alone or with friends and still feel like you belong.
