DBN Gogo Makes History: Inside the 24-Hour Set That Moved Mzansi, powered by Extreme

This weekend, DBN Gogo didn’t just play a set, she rewrote what’s possible in South African music culture, powered by Extreme Guarana. Amapiano is taking over the world, and DBN Gogo became the first SA female DJ to smash a full 24-hour set, endurance, skills, and pure vibes all the way. Broke & About was there, Extreme Guarana in hand, from start to finish. Moments like this? Stories for years.

Broke & About

Broke & About

April 7, 2026

There are cultural moments you feel before you understand them, the kind that make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. The 3rd– 4th of April 2026 was one of those moments. Extreme Guarana in hand, feet on the floor of Truth Nightclub in Midrand, we watched Mandisa Radebe, known to the world as DBN Gogo, pull off the impossible: 24 hours, non-stop. Just her, the decks, and the music.

When the clock struck 8pm on Friday evening and that first beat dropped, DBN Gogo set out to become the first female DJ in South Africa to perform a full 24-hour continuous set, a story that will be written about long after the music stopped. Twenty-four hours later, at 8pm on Saturday 4 April, she did exactly that. We were there for all of it.

The Buildup Was the Story

This wasn’t a stunt. Fans knew it was personal, a test of discipline, stamina, and creativity, not a headline chase. “Almost 10 years DJing, time to test myself,” she said.

She trained like a marathon runner, chiropractor, gym, journaling, clean eating, but had to bring party energy too. By Good Friday, the crowd was buzzing. #ExtremeMoveMzansi energy everywhere, everyone exactly where they needed to be.

The Set: A Full Sonic Journey

From the very first beat on Friday, it was clear this was no ordinary performance. DBN Gogo didn’t just play tracks, she told a story in real time. She started with deep throwback house, those records that make you remember why you fell in love with music.

From there, she moved seamlessly through Amapiano, 3-Step, Gqom, and Afro-Tech, dropping freestyle moments that had the floor completely unprepared, in the best way possible. She wasn’t just DJing; she was showing who she is, where she comes from, and how far she’s taken her craft.

By 8pm Saturday, the room erupted. The crowd wasn’t just watching, they were living it together, counting down the final moments. When she hit the 24-hour mark, the celebration was real: Khuza Gogo blasting through the speakers, cheers, embraces, a few happy tears, and flowers handed over in real time. It was a moment that will live in South African music history.

Industry Royalty Showed Up.

This wasn’t just DBN Gogo against the clock, it was the whole industry showing up for one of their own. Over 24 hours, SA’s biggest names hit the decks, each B2B adding fuel to an already blazing fire. Murdah Bongz brought his unmatched energy, Prince Kaybee had the floor losing it, and Shamiso held it down with pure style. Every set felt like a co-sign, a statement that they saw the moment, respected it, and wanted their names alongside hers.

Holding it all together on the mic was Uncool MC, the voice of the night. He kept the crowd locked in, the energy sharp, and reminded everyone exactly what they were witnessing. A 24-hour marathon needs more than a DJ, it needs a storyteller, and he delivered.

Celebrities such as Cassper Nyovest, LootLove, Moonchild, Njelic, and Prince Kaybee poured in all night, some stayed for hours, some popped in to pay respects, but every single one was there for the vibes. This wasn’t industry obligation, it was family showing up, and the support was real.

Extreme Powering History

Let’s be real: none of this would have been possible without Extreme Guarana. They didn’t just sponsor the night, they understood the assignment. #ExtremeMoveMzansi isn’t just a tagline, it’s a vibe. And they proved it by powering a night that South Africa will remember forever.

Broke & About was there because Extreme Guarana brought us in. Extreme Guarana in hand, fully present, we documented every hour of a moment that deserved to be seen. From 8pm Friday to 8pm Saturday, the brand was as much a part of the story as the music itself, cold, energising, and the perfect companion for a 24-hour marathon with zero slow moments.

Our team spoke to Extreme’s Brand Manager, Buhle Jongilanga, in excitement she said “being part of DBN Gogo’s 24-hour set was nothing short of incredible. What we witnessed was more than just a performance, it was a defining cultural moment, led by a woman who continues to push boundaries and inspire a new generation of creators.”

She continued to say that Extreme Guarana believes in backing bold moves, and this was exactly that. From the first beat to the final transition, the energy never dropped, and we are proud to have been there to help fuel an experience that will be remembered for years to come.

Why This Moment Was Historic

DBN Gogo shattered the ceiling that said women don’t have the skills, courage, or stamina to do something like this. She called on aspiring female artists to challenge limits and never accept the restrictions others place on them. This isn’t just music, it’s mindset. Your ambition is valid. Take up space.

On that floor, the weight of it was real. SA women have always been the backbone of this culture, at festivals, in queues, in the crowd, in the creative process. But from 8pm Friday to 8pm Saturday, one of their own stood behind the decks for 24 hours straight, proving: we can hold it down. Alone if we have to. For as long as it takes. DBN Gogo didn’t just DJ, she made history.

DBN Gogo didn't just DJ. She made a statement that will echo through this industry for a generation.

And Broke & About? We lived every beat, Extreme Guarana in hand, witnessing history unfold.
